Prémio BIAL de Medicina Clínica 2024: Award Ceremony

The winning work of the Prémio BIAL de Medicina Clínica 2024 and the honorable mentions will be announced in the Award ceremony that will take place on February 12, 2025, at 11 a.m. in Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de Lisboa, and will be held in a hybrid format, so everyone can watch online. The event will be chaired by the President of the Republic.

Promoted by the BIAL Foundation, the Prémio BIAL de Medicina Clínica was created in 1984 with the aim of recognizing an intellectual, original work on any freely chosen medical topic in clinical practice, with results of high quality and relevance.

In the 21st edition of the Award, the jury is chaired by José Melo Cristino and includes professors from faculties and schools of medicine in Portugal. The Prémio BIAL de Medicina Clínica is worth €100,000 and has the patronage of the President of the Republic, the Council of Rectors of Portuguese Universities, and the Portuguese Medical Association. In addition to the awarded work, honourable mentions (maximum two) worth €10,000 each can be awarded.

Since its establishment, the BIAL Award has considered 720 entries from 1853 researchers, physicians, and scientists from 21 countries. In 21 editions, it has recognised 111 works by 316 authors, with more than 326,000 copies of 43 award-winning works having been published and distributed free of charge to health professionals.
