The chairman of the BIAL Foundation, Luís Portela, was honoured with the Career Award by Human Resources Portugal, as part of the 14th edition of the Human Resources Awards.
The award was handed over on 3 June by Ricardo Florêncio, CEO of Multipublicações Media Group, who highlighted about Luís Portela “everything he did, everything he achieved, his entire story, and all that he left us”, emphasizing that “his story, his success, his contribution, is recognised by everyone”.
In his speech, the chairman of the BIAL Foundation stated that “the greatest wealth of institutions are people, who are equal in essence”, stressing that he always tried “never to look top to bottom on anyone in the company”, but rather to treat colleagues as he would like to be treated if their roles were reversed. Luís Portela believes this daily practice paid off, and he is proud of a team that “accomplished many beautiful things” over the 42 years he led BIAL.
At the ceremony, 34 awards were presented, of which 26 went to companies and eight were individual honors, including four special prizes for “Most Inspiring”, “Personality of the Year”, “Career Award”, and “People Management Communication”.
