BIAL Foundation celebrates 28th anniversary

Today the BIAL Foundation celebrates 28 years of its mission to foster the scientific study of the human being from both the physical and spiritual perspectives. Founded in 1994 by BIAL, together with the Council of Rectors of Portuguese Universities, the BIAL Foundation has been developing its activity in three areas with the aim of stimulating new discoveries and contributing to the improvement of human life: the attribution of Awards, the Grants Programmes for Scientific Research and the “Behind and Beyond the Brain” Symposia.

Luís Portela, chairman of the BIAL Foundation, underlines that the institution's focus will continue to be on excellence and rigor in research. “Our greatest wish is to contribute so that, under the rigor of the scientific method, conditions are created for human beings to know each other better, in physical and spiritual terms and, thus, to be able to commit themselves, individually and collectively, to the construction of a more balanced, more harmonious world, in a better world”.

In recent years, the BIAL Foundation created two new awards and increased the value of support for research projects in the areas of psychophysiology and parapsychology. “We believe that this reinforcement in terms of awards and support will help to rise the recognition of the most outstanding scientific works and encourage more and better research”, says Luís Portela.
